Kill Devil Hills - First in Flight - The Wright Brothers

On one hand, I love getting off the beaten path going were few people go, but on the other hand, I really like our National Parks.   Being on the Outer Banks, I could not pass up the opportunity to visit the place where flight was born.    Back in 1903, after the Wright Brothers did all their designing and tuning, they sent their plane from Ohio to Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, just south of Kitty hawk.  There they perfected their design inspired from bicycles, birds and who knows what else to eventually fly 852 feet, forever changing their lives, Americas destiny and even the worlds.

The Wright Brothers National Memorial:

A replica bronze plane shows the flight.

My daughter gets up close and personal with Wilbur.

The infamous flight path used by the Wright Brothers.

The actual flight marker from the flight, notarized by the local wildlife.

My father and daughter getting their photo taken for posterity sake.

Enjoy!
